I’m a mediocre middle-aged runner. I started running seriously around the time I turned 40, inspired by the birth of my second child to give up smoking for good and desperate for something else to take its place.
Running evolved from being something I did to settle my mind or improve my health into being something that challenged the ways I thought about almost everything–from the city I lived in to my own body. The writing I do on this site is simply a way of trying to understand what running means.
For fuller accounting of why I started this project and what I hope to achieve with it, check out my first newsletter post about it.
